LeapFrog Tag Pen book — CHICKA CHICKA BOOM BOOM

The question we ask at our house about every TV show, iPad app or video game is, “Is it something that’s going to make you smarter?” The answer doesn’t always have to be “Yes” — I’m not that crazy of a dad — but it needs to be “Yes” more often than it is “No.”
So, over the years, we’ve bought a number of learning toys and game systems for our girls. I wouldn’t say we’re experts as a result, but we’ve definitely found ones we liked and truly believe helped accelerate their learning in math, reading, and general thinking.
Which brings us to how we use eBay and Craigslist. Knowing what worked for our girls, when I find one of those game systems/learning tools at a thrift store or garage sale, I buy it, clean it up, test it and re-sell it here. The proceeds then go into our girls’ college funds.
Among the learning tools we found most effective were the LeapFrog Tag Pens and LeapReader pens, some of which we have listed elsewhere on eBay. While we did read with our girls and had them read to us as they became able, the pens are fantastic as a fun way for them to “read” independently.
If you’re unfamiliar, you download the audio for each book to your computer, then load the audio onto the pen (using a mini-USB cord) and then pen then “reads” the book to your child as he/she taps icons and words. I continue to be amazed by the technology that makes this possible, and I am sure the pens were part of the reason both our girls learned to read before entering kindergarten. (It certainly wasn’t because their dad is a genius, I can tell you that. 😉)

I ship via USPS Media Mail since that is an inexpensive way to send books. Happy to combine shipping if you buy multiple books — or want to put together a large lot. (I have found people want to be able to piece together their own lots as opposed to having them pre-set.
Also, it is easier for me to charge shipping for each book (as you see with, say, Amazon sellers) but then issue you a refund for the amount you over-paid for shipping if you bought multiple books. 📚
