Description

ENGLAND ENGLISH GREAT BRITAIN HENRY III 1247-1272 AD
AR Silver Long Cross Pennies (2x). Original hoard toning, highly lustrous AU examples.
In original 1970s Bradshaw and Darlington pouch and still sealed in original flips.
Both are class 5c with sceptre, with the first AU-UNC (most likely will grade 58 62) – very scarce as a series and rare in high grade, and the second would grade 50+ and is rare in all grades, with no sales online. Perhaps this is the finest known from this mint for the type.
The first example is virtually as struck, with full portrait and an interesting reverse shift error, with the cross double struck only laterally (aligned) and field slightly widened without any doubling to the obverse, possibly the finest example known. The second example is unusually well-struck for the variety and probably among the best examples that exist.
